Dr. Katrina Cardwell, Arlington ChiropractorDr. Katrina Cardwell

Dr. Katrina’s first career was in accounting and human resources. When she was about to go to school to get an MBA, her grandmother, who had been in the hospital, was going in for surgery. Then, her aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Katrina would go to medical appointments here with her grandmother, then travel to Oklahoma City to see her aunt.

It was remarkable, she noticed, that certain doctors, nurses or aides could make a tremendous difference in the well-being, mood and perspective of their practice members.

It made her consider: “What am I doing with my life?”

Getting a Chiropractic Education

It was time to make a change. Sitting in an office, hoping the phone would ring so Dr. Katrina could have some human interaction, was no way to spend her life. Coming from a Native American culture, she had long used herbs and alternative forms of medicine.

A piece of literature in the mail from chiropractic college made her call up the school. The woman in admissions informed Dr. Katrina, “We already have your transcripts.” Though she’d forgotten, years before, Dr. Katrina had sent her records to a few places, including Parker University.

It made Dr. Katrina realize that she was meant to be a chiropractor, and she earned a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker.

“Each day, I wake up and feel lucky that God chose me for this profession. I’m a facilitator for healing and get to witness life-changing experiences firsthand.”

Dr. Katrina is a certified doula. She has attended births in her capacity as a doula as well as a chiropractor. Her prenatal background includes a certification from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in the Webster Technique. She has also trained with Epic Pediatrics.

Outside of the Office

A single mom to young Hendrix, Dr. Katrina’s spare time revolves around her son. Her weekends are all about maximizing that quality family time. Hendrix was born with a lip and tongue-tie and was starving before Dr. Katrina found a solution to her son’s challenges. She enjoys her role as a doula, feeling privileged and honored to be in that intimate space and time of life with soon-to-be-parents.
